The final of the Miss Italy 2025 contest took place on the evening of Monday, September 15th, at the PalaSavelli in Porto San Giorgio, Italy. province of Fermo.
Katia Buchicchio, 18, was crowned the new Miss Italy. Representing the Basilicata region, she won out over 40 finalists from across the country.
First winner from Basilicata
Born in Anzi, a small town in the province of Potenza, Katia is the first candidate from Basilicata to win the title in 86 editions of the contest.
She graduated from high school with a major in science and has just started studying Dentistry.
The young woman stood out not only for her beauty, but also for her simplicity. According to the Corriere della Sera, Patrizia Mirigliani, organizer of the contest, said: “A simple girl, from next door”.
A device that made history
In addition to the regional feat, Katia became the first Miss Italy crowned wearing orthodontic braces.
During the ceremony, Patrizia Mirigliani noticed the detail when placing the sash. "One thing I noticed when I placed the sash on her had never happened before. But it's okay," she declared.
Katia also moved the audience by dedicating her victory to her father, Antonio, who accompanied her throughout the competition.

This year's edition marked the event's return to live broadcasting, broadcast on the RaiPlay platform and RTV San Marino.
The presentation was given by Nunzia Di Girolamo. The jury was presided over by Francesca Pascale, who was responsible for crowning the new Miss.
On the podium, Katia was accompanied by Fanny Tardioli (Miss Umbria) and Asia Campanelli (Miss Marche).
Katia stated that she intends to continue her studies and proudly represent her region. "I will continue my studies and work to maintain the reputation of my region, which I am proud to represent, just as this title honors me," she declared.
