Starting next Saturday (15), travelers from the European Union, the United Kingdom and Israel will no longer need to undergo a five-day quarantine when disembarking in one of the most visited countries in the world.
This is the first relaxation of the rules for the entry of foreign tourists into Italy – which will maintain restrictions for travelers from countries with high epidemiological risk, such as Brazil and India – in view of the high summer season in Europe.
Currently, travelers from UE, from the United Kingdom and Israel must be tested for the new coronavirus 48 hours before arrival, undergo a five-day quarantine after landing and take a new test before leaving isolation.
However, with the flexibility, tourists from these countries will only need to present a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 (with both doses, if it is not the Janssen vaccine), proof of cure for the disease or a PCR or antigen test with results. negative. Quarantine will no longer be necessary.
For the following weeks, the Italian government's objective is to reopen to all foreign countries that have reached a “high level” of vaccination, but this level has not yet been established.

After Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced on May 4th that the national green pass would come into effect in the second half of this month, Rome's tourism agencies have already registered an increase in bookings from tourists from countries such as Germany and Portugal.
But the travelers who generally spend the most money in Italy are Americans, Chinese and Russians, so the sector is expecting new flexibility – with advanced vaccination, the United States is next in line.
In relation to travelers from Brazil, Italy only allows entry in some exceptional cases - and subject to quarantine -, such as citizens with fixed residence in the European country or spouses of those who fall into this category, and there is no forecast of relaxation in the coming weeks .
