According to the meteorology website Il Meteo, the peak in thermometers should occur between Tuesday (10) and Thursday (12).
The capital Rome, in the center of the peninsula, can register up to 38ºC throughout the week.
The only part of Italy expected to escape the intense heat wave is the northwest, including the cities of Genoa and Turin. Starting Tuesday, four important municipalities are expected to enter "level 3" of the Ministry of Health's risk scale: Bari and Campobasso in the south, and Rieti and Rome in the center.

The following day, these cities are joined by Frosinone, Latina and Perugia, in Central Italy, and Palermo, capital of the island of Sicily.
Level 3, also called “red seal”, indicates “emergency conditions with possible negative effects on the health of healthy and active people, and not just in at-risk subgroups such as the elderly, very young children and individuals with chronic illnesses” , according to the government.
The country's Civil Defense system is already mobilized for an increased risk of fires in the coming days. Over the past few weeks, Italy has already had to deal with outbreaks of flames in forested areas in central and southern regions, with at least two confirmed victims in Calabria.
“The temperatures that await us require maximum attention”, said the head of Civil Defense, Fabrizio Curcio, asking citizens for “caution and collaboration”. “It is essential to avoid any behavior that could cause fires and to quickly report even low-intensity flames,” he added.
