Italy has more cured people than new Covid cases for the first time

Number of patients recovered in the last 24 hours exceeded new cases for the first time

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, Italian authorities registered more recovered Covid-19 patients than new cases – in the last 24 hours.

In the balance sheet presented this Thursday (23), the Italian civil protection reported that Italy now has 2.646 new cases. The number of cured people was 3.033, surpassing the number of new infections for the first time.

The number of active cases decreased by 851, representing the fourth consecutive day of reduction.

Since the start of the pandemic, Italy has recorded 189.973 cases and 25.549 deaths – therefore, the number is still high: 464 in the last 24 hours.

The number of recovered patients is now 57.576 and the number of active cases is 106.848.

Civil protection reported that 66.658 tests were carried out yesterday, the highest figure since the beginning of the outbreak. As of yesterday, Italy carried out 1.579.909 tests.
