Atlético Mineiro's title is highlighted in the Italian press. The portal of RAI, the country's main broadcaster, said that “the Belo Horizonte team, led by Cuca, secured the second title after 1971, with a 3-2 victory over Bahia, securing the 'scudetto' two days earlier”.
“The 'black and white', led on the field by Hulk and Diego Costa, with two rounds to go, won their second title half a century after their first victory,” wrote Tuttosport.
The Goal portal published: “Sing the Rooster. And it is a song of joy and triumph. Atlético Mineiro is champion of Brazil for the second time in its history.”
According to the website, the title breaks “a curse that lasted exactly half a century, even though in the meantime the club won a Copa Libertadores”.
O Corriere dello Sport highlighted that “it is a magical night for Atlético Mineiro and its fans”.
"The bianconeri they take the trophy away from Flamengo, winner of the last two editions and after the defeat in the Copa Libertadores final against Palmeiras de Felipe Melo”, he wrote.
