The 52th edition of Feast of San Gennaro, in Mooca, runs until Sunday, October 5th, with free programming that combines Italian cuisine, cultural performances, and social activities. The event, which began on September 6th, concludes the calendar of Italian festivals in the city of São Paulo.
This year, the festival was officially recognized as a manifestation of national culture by Law 15.205, sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in September.
Typical cuisine and attractions for the whole family
San Gennaro and Lins streets, in the traditional Mooca neighborhood, are covered and equipped to welcome the public comfortably and safely. The festival runs Saturdays from 17 PM to 23 PM and Sundays from 17 PM to 22 PM, with free admission.
In total, there are 20 stalls offering typical Italian dishes: spaghetti, pizza, polenta, gnocchi, lasagna, fogazza, pork and pepperoni sandwiches, as well as sweets, appetizers, and bruschetta. There are also inflatable toys for children.
Cantina with full dinner and live music
A San Gennaro Winery, located in the parish's warehouse, offers dinner with live performances by the Italia Brasil Band, dancing, and raffles. Tickets include a plate of spaghetti, pizza, and a portion of bruschetta, plus a table reservation.
Tickets cost R$75 on Saturdays and R$50 on Sundays. Children under 5 are free, and ages 6 to 12 pay half price. Reservations must be made in advance.
Party with a solidarity purpose
A Parish of San Gennaro, founded in 1914, donates proceeds from the festival to social projects that serve children, the elderly, and the homeless. Basic food baskets, meals, and hygiene kits are distributed to the region's needy population.
