Spending by foreign tourists in Italy grows 17%

Os Tourists Foreigners spent 5,2 billion euros (R$31,2 billion) in Italy in May, an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Bank of Italy (the country's central bank), this provided a surplus of 2,8 billion euros (R$ 16,8 billion) in the tourism trade balance, an increase of 600 million (R$ 3,6 billion) in compared to May last year (2,2 billion euros, or R$13,2 billion).

Data from the institution, which issues periodic reports on international tourism, also reveals a 9% increase in expenditure by Italians abroad, totaling 2,4 billion euros, equivalent to R$14,4 billion.
