Created, written, directed, and starring Sicilian comedians Salvo Ficarra and Valentino Picone, the work features an unusual combination of elements: observational humor, light fantasy, and relatable family conflicts. The plot revolves around two nurses working in Milan who, on the eve of the holiday season, discover a magical portal that connects directly to Sicily.

The narrative uses this fantastical element as a metaphor for the tension experienced by many southern Italians who migrated north in search of professional stability. The series explores the desire to be in two places at once, evidenced by the dilemma between leaving and returning.

The portal, however, does not resolve conflicts. On the contrary, it deepens moral dilemmas and broadens questions about family, belonging, and personal choices. Christmas serves as an emotional backdrop for these reflections.

With an affectionate tone and gentle social commentary, the production avoids the common clichés of Christmas stories. Instead of relying on formulas of redemption or romance, Sicilian Express It highlights the cultural and emotional ties of Sicily, especially during the festival season.

The cast includes, in addition to the main duo, popular names from Italian television such as Katia Follesa, Barbara Tabita, Max Tortora, Sergio Vastano, Adelaide Massari, and a special appearance by Giorgio Tirabassi.

The script is also written by Fabrizio Cestaro, Nicola Guaglianone, and Fabrizio Testini, with production by Tramp Limited. The series stands out for its short episodes and a light yet profound approach, which can appeal to both audiences already familiar with the duo's work and those looking for a different Christmas option.
