Os numbers show the company's commitment to Italy, “through investments, job creation, support for the digitalization of SMEs and tax contributions”, explains Amazon in an official note released today.
To be more precise, since 2010, Amazon has invested more than 5,8 billion euros in job creation and infrastructure, becoming “one of the main job creators in the country. In total, the company generated almost 130 thousand job openings – 8.500 of which were direct.
Salvini declares war on Amazon
Matteo Salvini's war against Amazon is actually a flag in the name of Italianity.
The former Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and current senator wants “Italian shopkeepers first”. A copy of his “Italians first” flag, against the massive influx of refugees into Italy.
According to the alarm launched a few days ago by Confesercenti, the main association of businesspeople in Italy, the second wave of Covid led to closure of 190 thousand stores in the country.
Faced with this, Salvini mounted a true crusade, not against the e-commerce, which fell to the taste of Italians, but against the web giant and its fiscal condition. Certainly, due to its modern administrative management, easier than that of Italian retailers.
In recent days, in fact, the secretary of the League has repeatedly highlighted the importance, especially during the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, “of Christmas shopping made in stores close to home and not with a click on the net”.
The multinational's reaction was simply to make itself available to listen to their requests, as it usually does with any interlocutor who requests it.
