With rock by Måneskin, Italy wins Eurovision again after 31 years

Rock returned this Saturday (22) to make a winner in the Eurovision: the band Maneskin, from Italy, won the 2021 edition of the European music festival with the song "Shut up and Good" (something like 'Shut up and behave', in a free translation).

The song was not the most voted among the jurors from the countries participating in Eurovision, which this year took place in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

However, the Italians were the public's favorite, enough to leave behind other songs seen as strong candidates for the title.

See below the five best-placed songs from Eurovision 2021:

  1. Italy — Maneskin: “Zitti and Buoni”
  2. France - Barbara Pravi: “Voilà”
  3. Switzerland - Gjon's Tears: “Tout l'Univers”
  4. Iceland — Daði og Gagnamagnið: “10 Years”
  5. Ukraine — Shum: “Go_A”

Italy three-time champion Eurovision

It is the third time that Italy has won the competition: the other two were in 1964, with Gigliola Cinquettie, and 1990, with Toto Cutugno.

Eurovision returned to the scene after an interruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 edition.

In addition to European countries, Israel and Australia participate in the competition, broadcast by a consortium of TV stations of the continent. In 2019, Dutchman Duncan Laurence won Eurovision.
