Milan comes in first place among the most dangerous cities in ItalyAccording to the Crime Risk Report 2026, a survey released by the Truffa.net portal, which specializes in the prevention of digital crimes, the Lombardy capital registers a crime risk score of 7,99 on a scale of 0 to 10, with almost 7 reported crimes per 100 inhabitants.

Milan also tops the list of online fraud cases, with 613. scams The number of reported cyberattacks per 100 inhabitants increased by 26,2% compared to the previous year. The study is based on data from the Italian Ministry of the Interior, according to which more than 1 million people suffered cyberattacks or financial crimes in the country last year.
How does the study measure risk?
The report combines three indicators: national statistics on reported crimes, data on online fraud, and indices of... perception of security from the residents themselves. The sum of these factors generates the final score for each city.
Foggia ranks second, with 7,47 points. The number of reported crimes in the Puglia city is lower than in other capitals on the list, but Foggia registers the worst perceived safety index among the ten, meaning its residents feel less safe than those in any other city evaluated.
Bologna completes the podium with 7,02 points and more than 6 reported crimes per 100 inhabitants. Next come Turin (6,89 points and 5.828 reports), Florence (6,77 and 6.508), Rome (6,67 and 6.402), Rimini (6,50), Prato (6,43), Pescara (6,31) and Reggio Emilia (6,29).

Medium-sized cities are driving the increase.
The rate of crime growth paints a different picture than the overall ranking. Pescara, ranked ninth, has the lowest number of reported crimes on the list (3.691 per 100 inhabitants), but saw that number grow by 84,1% in five years, the largest increase among the ten cities.
Reggio Emilia comes next, with an increase of 80,5%. Foggia registers a rise of 78,1% and Bologna, of 72,9%. Rome, on the other hand, shows one of the most contained advances in the group, 66,1%, and does not reach the podium despite the high volume of complaints.

Florence is the city on the list with the highest perceived safety index, even though it has the second highest number of reported crimes per capita. (With information from InItalia/Virgilio)
