An investigation into fraud in the recognition of Italian citizenship led to the conviction of several people involved, including Silmara Fabotti., advisor to presenter Rodrigo Faro, from Rede Record.
The Court of Naples North sentenced Fabotti, according to the newspaper Napoli Today, to 4 years and 2 months in prison for document forgery and corruption. The request by the public prosecutor, Cesare Sirignano, was for 5 years and 10 months in prison. Flavio Alan Yogui, also Brazilian, received a sentence of 2 years and 10 months.

Italian citizenship fraud scheme
Operation “Carioca” revealed, according to Neapolitan press, a scheme in the municipality of Villaricca, where public officials manipulated processes for recognition of residency and Italian citizenship.
The group forged documents and created fictitious residences in exchange for money. Among those convicted were Italians Alessio De Rosa and Alessandro Di Vivo, both sentenced to four years and two months.
Judge Simone Farina – according to Napoli Today – also sentenced two civil servants from Villaricca: Antonio Amato, to 2 years and 8 months, and Antonio Opera, to 1 year and 4 months, with a suspended sentence. Both were acquitted of the corruption charge.
The investigation cited names such as Rodrigo Faro, his wife Vera Viel, as well as football players and businessmen.
The defense team was made up of lawyers Luigi Poziello, Giuseppe Formicola, Nunzio Limite, Antonio Peluso, Luca Felaco, Michele Liguori and Pasquale Ciccarelli.
