The administrator of the NASA, Bill Nelson, said on Monday (14) that man will return to the Moon's orbit in September 2025, while he will step back onto lunar soil at the end of 2026.
The American, who participated in a conference in Milan, Italy, declared that these missions will only be possible thanks to the Artemis program.
“We will return to the Moon in a different way. This time, we will go to a different region, near the south pole, where we believe there is water, and we will do it in a different way, with the collaboration of international and commercial partners,” Nelson said.
The head of the US space agency commented that the world is in the “golden age of space exploration”, mainly due to the involvement of many nations and the “explosion of technologies” that have already enabled “exceptional discoveries”.
“I had the privilege of going to Space to see the Earth that is our home, and from up there I saw no political, religious or racial division. We are all citizens of planet Earth,” he concluded.HANDLE)
