Brazilian country singer Sérgio Reis will open the 16th Italian Festival of Nova Veneza on August 4th at 22 PM. The traditional pasta festival, which highlights the importance of Italian culture through cuisine, music, and dance, runs until August 7th in the city of Nova Veneza. new venice.
After two years without taking place due to pandemic restrictions, the party returns in 2022 with an estimated audience of 100 people over the four days of the event.

The main attraction announced, Sérgio Reis' show promises to recall hits from his 64-year career, such as Menino da Porteira, Panela Velha, Coração de Papel and O Mineiro and O Italiano.

The cultural program will feature a performance by the group Os Tenores do Brasil, on August 5th, at 22 pm. Formed by tenors Ricardo Régis and Marcelo Zanlucci, the duo promises a repertoire to delight party participants.
On the 6th, accordionist Ricardo Tucci brightens up Saturday lunch, with a show starting at 12 noon. Classics such as Con te Partiro, Santa Lúcia, Tornasuriento, as well as tarantellas, are among the songs guaranteed for the New Venice party.
Local singer Waldir Amaral will close the musical program on the 7th, at 14 pm. The artist, who has been a star at the festival for 12 years, will sing hits that rocked Italy in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Dance
The Italian-Brazilian Folkloric Group of Nova Veneza will be present on the 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday). Composed of 36 people, including men and women, adults and children, the group has prepared 12 choreographies that portray Italian culture through dance.
Two groups of students from the municipal school of Nova Veneza will present Italian concerts and around 15 couples will portray important themes from history through presentations.
Masquerade
The traditional masked ball is confirmed in the schedule and is always held on Saturdays. The attraction rescues the Venice Carnival, a festival that marked the beginning of Lent and had been taking place since 1904.
Sports also have a reserved space in the 16th edition of the festival, such as bocce, a traditional Italian sport, and a cycling tour scheduled for Saturday, August 6th.
Protest
Another tradition that could not be left out is the panelaço, a parade carried out by the festival's cooks, who bang their pans in sync. The pan symbolizes the success of the four days of festivities in the city.
And speaking of cooks, one of the biggest stars of the festival is the food. For the return of the event, the structure of Nonna's Kitchen was redesigned to receive 45 cooks who will guide the pots that will prepare over 20 options of traditional Italian dishes, such as pasta, gnocchi, polpette, rotolo di pollo with salsa bianca, lasagna and the famous fried polentas with different sauce options. Dishes will cost between R$20 and R$40.
Vânia Alves, kitchen coordinator, speaks emotionally about the resumption of the festival. “I thought I would never be here again because of this pandemic, which brought us a lot of suffering. But, after a sad time, we will have a time of reunion and celebration,” she says.
Located 29 kilometers from Goiânia, the city of Nova Veneza has around 60% of residents of Italian descent.
