After having the last two days canceled in 2020 to try to contain the spread of the new coronavirus Sar-CoV-2, the Venice Carnival is being held this year with a calendar full of virtual events dedicated to its history and tradition.
Until February 16th, the magic of the traditional celebration that brings together a crowd on the streets of the Italian city will enter the homes of Carnival lovers.
• Cases affected by the decree
• Delays at the town hall and consulate

The calendar will feature interviews, films, music and online entertainment, as well as videos about the history of Carnival, ranging from the “Feast of Marys” – when 12 beautiful girls wearing period costumes walk through the historic center of Venice to Plaza San Marco – until the Flight of the Angel.

Among the first events is a show and a series of interviews streamed directly from Ca' Vendramin Calergi, a palace overlooking the Grand Canal, home of the Venice Casino.
In addition, every day during the program there will be 40 short videos showing the stories of Carnival, featuring artists, artisans, costume designers, as well as the party locations, including museums, theaters, mask workshops, shops and restaurants.
“We want to highlight in this 'unprecedented' edition of Carnival” “the fundamental role of artisanal activities in preserving the identity of Venice, highlighting their role as interpreters of the city's traditions”, stated the general director of the Protection of Traditions of the Municipality of Venice , Giovanni Giusto.
The new format of the Venice Carnival can be enjoyed by people of all ages, thanks to specific virtual rooms. (With information from Ansa)
