Which are the safest cities in Italy? And what are the cities most dangerous?
Numbeo, the largest collaborative database on cities and countries in the world, answers these two questions (and many others).
According to the index “Crime Indicator 2022“, prepared based on indications from Numbeo users, the city perceived as the most dangerous in the world is Caracas, in Venezuela, with a crime rate of 84,01.
In second place is Pretoria (81,98), in South Africa, and in third place is Celaya (81,80), in Mexico.
Brazil has two cities in the Top 10: Rio de Janeiro (77,93) and Christmas (77,69) – 9th and 10th, respectively.
The first European city in this special ranking is Bradford (71,24), in the United Kingdom. The other most dangerous European cities are Coventry (68,35), again in the United Kingdom, and Nantes (65,77), in France.
Off the podium is the first Italian in the ranking: the city perceived as the most dangerous by Numbeo users is Catania. With a crime rate of 64,82, the Sicilian city is in 50th place in the world rankings.
The safest cities in the world
Considering the entire world, the city perceived as the safest is Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, with a Safety Index of 87,90.
In the world ranking drawn up based on the safety index, there are Doha (85,41), in Qatar, and Taipei (85,07), in Taiwan.
The podium in the European ranking of cities perceived as safest is made up (in first place) of San Sebastian, in Spain (with a safety index of 83,96), Zurich e Bern (both in Switzerland and with a safety index of 82,80 and 82,18 respectively).
The first Italian city in the ranking, in this case it is Trieste, in 54th place: with a safety index of 73,83, it is the city in Italy perceived as the safest.
The Brazilian city considered the safest is Victory (54,28). She is in 233rd position.
