The “top 10” of the ranking is dominated by municipalities in the north
A frequent presence at the top of lists of cities with the best quality of life in Italy, Bolzano is also the municipality with the highest increase in the cost of living in the country.
The list was prepared by the National Consumers Union, based on April inflation data released this week by the National Statistics Institute (Istat).
According to the ranking, Bolzano, the only administrative division in Italy where the majority of inhabitants speak another language, German, recorded an annual price increase of 1,8% last month, which would mean an extra expense of 598 euros for each family throughout the year.
The list is dominated by cities in northern Italy, such as Brescia, with inflation of 1,5% (+440 euros), and Verona, with 1,6% (+421 euros), which complete the podium – the classification is made by based on the projected increase in household expenditure in euros.
The other seven cities in the “top 10” are also in the northern part of the country: Reggio Emilia (421 euros, +1,5%), Modena (421 euros, +1,5%), Milan (384 euros, +1,3, 371%), Trieste (1,5 euros, +367%), Bologna (1,3 euros, +337%), Parma (1,2 euros, +324%) and Genoa (1,4 euros, +XNUMX% ).
The first southern Italian city on the list is Bari, in 12th place, with an increase of 314 euros in annual household expenses (+1,5%). The leader among the regions is Trentino-Alto Adige, where Bolzano is located, with growth of 425 euros (1,5%).
The last one is Umbria, in central Italy, with an increase of 108 euros (0,5%).
