In a note sent to Italianismo, the Italian senator Fabio Porta says that the Argentines are allegedly going to rig the Italian elections in South America, which will be held on September 25th.
“This is the first time a fraud has been announced before it has even taken place. And in the coming days I will file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office in Rome,” says Porta, of the Democratic Party.
According to him, a message is circulating in Argentina, via email and WhatsApp, asking voters to deliver their envelopes to the party headquarters before they have even voted.
“Get in touch and we will help you prepare your vote, and we will mail it to you”, says an excerpt from the statement sent by a representative of the USEI party (Unione Sudamericana Emigrati Italiani), inviting members to mobilize to “add” to the project, according to the note sent by Fabio Porta.
The USEI party is the target of two investigations, one in Italy and the other in Argentina, precisely for electoral fraud in 2018.
At the end of last year, Italian-Argentine senator Adriano Cario, who was elected by USEI and later switched to MAIE, was revoked after allegations of fraud.
It was precisely Fabio Porta who took over his chair.
With the constitutional reform that came into force in 2020, the South American constituency will have the right to two deputies and one senator in the Italian Parliament – previously there were 2 senators and four deputies.
