Priority given to the 160.000 Italians
In a scenario of uncertainty, Borghese stated that his absolute priority is the approximately 160.000 Italian citizens residing in South American territory., whom he described as "unwitting bystanders and victims of a crisis that threatens their daily safety".
The senator is demanding a firm stance from Rome regarding the situation.
“I urge the Italian Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately activate all possible diplomatic and operational channels. We cannot allow our brothers in Venezuela to feel abandoned at such a delicate time,” Borghese stressed.
Consular network on alert
The parliamentarian argued that the Italian consular network must be "fully operational, strengthened and ready to respond to any emergency," guaranteeing constant assistance to every citizen.
Borghese also reported that the Embassy in Caracas has already initiated guidance protocols, but stressed that the State's presence must be conspicuous: "Italy must make its voice and presence heard: the security of our compatriots is non-negotiable."
