Italians who live the longest are in Veneto e Trentino, two regions in the north of the country that are adding around 2 thousand nonagenarians per year to the statistics.
The information was released by the Veneto section of the Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics (Sigg) on Wednesday (8).
However, the movement is accompanied by the greatest increase in demand for assistance to the elderly, with a total of more than 600 thousand people aged 65 or over who have two or more chronic diseases and 180 thousand elderly people who are not self-sufficient.
The data shows that life expectancy in these two regions is also the highest in Italy, at 81 years for men and 85 for women in Veneto, and 81,5 years for men and 86 years for women in Trentino. (Ansa Brasil / Photo: Depositphotos)
