Survey released this Thursday, the 18th, by Febraban Observatory (Brazilian Federation of Banks), shows that 40% of Brazilians are interested in leaving the country.The study surveyed 3 people across all regions of Brazil between November 15th and December 2nd.
According to the survey, 57% of respondents said they had no intention of emigrating, while 3% did not know or did not want to answer.
The desire to live outside of Brazil is stronger among young people. In Generation Y, made up of people born between 1980 and 1995, 50% said they wanted to live abroad. In Generation Z, born between 1995 and 2010, the rate is 44%.
Among older generations, the desire to emigrate is lower. In Generation X (1965–1981), 35% expressed this desire. The percentage drops to 25% among Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964.
Most frequently mentioned destinations
Europe is the most frequently mentioned destination for Brazilians looking to leave the country, accounting for 60% of the responses. Portugal He leads with 22%, followed by Italy (12%)Spain (8%), England (7%) and Switzerland (6%).
North America comes next. The United States is cited by 37% of respondents who wish to emigrate. Canada has 9%.
Asian countries were also mentioned. Japan (5%) and China (4%) are among the destinations considered by Brazilians.
