The difficulty in scheduling passport appointments has generated increasing complaints against the Italian Consulate in São Paulo. Italians residing in the region have expressed frustration with the lack of available dates for issuing or renewing passports, raising questions about the efficiency of the service.

Furthermore, reports on the consulate's own social media indicate flaws in the online scheduling system, making the process even more difficult for Italian citizens.

Italians seeking to schedule the issuance or renewal of passports have encountered obstacles in the process, as reported by Concetta Spongano, who expresses her anguish when questioning whether she will be able to see her Italy at the age of 66 and fighting cancer.

Other citizens also share frustrating experiences, mentioning the difficulty in contacting the consulate, whether by phone or through the scheduling website.

Complaints are piling up on the consulate's social media, as can be seen in the reports of Jaeder Vazzoler and Marcelo Vallim.

Furthermore, Clelia Vicari Crepaldi warns of the urgency of emergency action by the consulate to avoid a large number of expired passports.

João GG Santos recounts the frustration of trying to schedule his passport appointment exactly at the appointed time and encountering system errors. He is asking for help from consular authorities, highlighting the importance of treating citizens with due attention and respect.

Romilda Casizzi Baldin suggests that the issuance of passports be decentralized to cities that have vice-consulates or consular agencies, in order to facilitate the process.

His suggestion received a response from the consulate – something rare. “Unfortunately, the creation of passports depends not only on following the consular law in force (which implies changes in the law) but also on specific machinery that is impossible to provide to vice consulates,” wrote the consulate.

The situation is distressing for Carol Nastri Borges, who has been trying to schedule her passport appointment for several months without success.

Liamara De Maria expresses her indignation with the online scheduling system, pointing out flaws in the Prenot@mi website and questioning whether Italians will have to resort to specialized companies to guarantee their right to a passport.

In fact, the vast majority of vacancies are being reserved by companies that use artificial intelligence to game the system. The consulate is aware of the problem, but has not yet presented a technical solution to prohibit this practice.

The complaints highlight the urgent need for improvements in the passport scheduling process at the Italian Consulate in São Paulo.
