Despite selling 75 million records, Laura Pausini still faces criticism from Italians.

Singer Laura Pausini has sold 75 million records and garnered over six billion streams worldwide. She is the first Italian to win a Grammy and to enter the Billboard Hot 100. She has also won four... Latin Grammy and was honored as Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy in 2023.

Despite these numbers, the artist says she still faces criticism from Italians on social media.

During an interview in Sanremo, where she will participate as a presenter at the Sanremo Festival, Pausini commented on the online reaction.

“Out of four thousand comments, 400 are negative. They are few, but they make more noise than the others, which are positive. I feel loved in this country, I don't feel different. The love I receive here is truly immense,” she declared.

The numbers indicate that about 10 percent of the messages she cited have negative content. The singer herself classified this group as a minority.

Amid preparations for the festival, Pausini became emotional when recalling her debut in 1993, when she performed La Solitudine. On that occasion, she was introduced by Pippo Baudo, a moment that marked the beginning of her international career.

“It was beautiful because I will never forget that moment. Even if there are more important international awards, for me there is none like Sanremo. Over the years, it hasn't lost its importance; on the contrary, it has introduced a lot of new music,” he told Ansa.

Speaking about identity, Pausini said she was proud to be Italian. She recalled living in many countries between the ages of 18 and 51 and stated that she carries many cultures within her.

The data shows a career with global reach and, at the same time, the presence of criticism in the digital environment. The artist herself maintains that she feels loved in Italy, despite the negative reactions.
