Italy won the 16th edition of the World Confectionery Championship, which was held in the city of Lyon, France.
Lorenzo Puca, Massimo Pica and Andrea Restuccia thus took the third Italian victory in the competition, held last weekend. The first occurred in 1997 and the second in 2015.
Second place went to the Japanese team and third to the hosts, the French. In the last edition of the competition, in 2019, Malaysia had won the competition, and the Italians came in second.
In the 10 hours of the final test, the three Italians made a chocolate dessert to share, an ice cream pie, a restaurant dessert, a 165-centimeter sugar sculpture and a second chocolate sculpture of the same size.
The president of the Confederation of Italian Confectioners (Conpait), Angelo Musolino, highly praised the country's team that had “precision, concentration and creativity” to achieve the achievement. He also recognized the work for the group's coach, Alessandro Dalmasso. (ANSA).
