The city of Cagliari, Italy, hosted this Thursday (12) the second stage of the three-day meeting of the G7 on Work and Employment, which discussed legal migration, security and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Italy's Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, participated in the summit and highlighted the importance of everyone working towards the “valuation” and “welcoming” of migrants who arrive regularly on the European continent.

“We are committed and, as part of the decree we approved in Cutro, we established this objective. Today we have cooperation agreements with 10 countries precisely to enhance the regular entry of labor for training courses,” commented the politician.

Calderone also mentioned that participants at the G7 meeting talked about the “progression of aging” and how AI could impact the world of work.

“AI is one of the topics that the June summit presented as a commitment to ministers and there was intense collaboration in this regard. The aging of the population is a common characteristic of all seven countries, which certainly implies having to structure interventions to make our societies more inclusive,” he analyzed.

Women's work was also on the agenda among the leaders, so much so that the Italian minister stated that it was “necessary to guarantee help and support”, mainly in “making the market increasingly efficient”.

Calderone, who chairs the ongoing G7 in Cagliari, took part in bilateral meetings with his German and British counterparts, Hubertus Heil and Alison McGovern respectively. (HANDLE)
