How much does this freedom cost?
Here's the best part: It costs exactly zero. IT Wallet is a public, free, and universal service for anyone who has the Italian digital identity (CIE or SPID). You pay nothing to issue digital versions of your documents, you don't pay a monthly fee, and you don't pay to validate your information at government offices or airports. It's maximum convenience without breaking the bank.
IT Wallet is part of the new European eIDAS 2 regulation, which aims to create a support network for a future European digital identity.
The system's technological infrastructure consists of three data centers, two in Rome and one in Foggia. A fourth center is under construction in the Italian capital.
