The Futuro Nazionale movement, led by Roberto Vannacci, formalized its statutes in a notary's office and announced that the constituent assembly will take place before the European summer.
The document outlines restrictions on the right to citizenship, rejects abortion and euthanasia, and opposes what it calls gender ideologies and "woke" ideologies.
Critics classify the group, launched by a former ally of Matteo Salvini, as part of the Italian radical right. Its members, however, claim it is a conservative movement that defends traditional values and an Italy they consider culturally homogeneous.
Political analysts see Vannacci's party — he is a Member of the European Parliament and a former general — as a sort of Italian equivalent of the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
In a statement, MPs Rossano Sasso, Edoardo Ziello, and Emanuele Pozzolo stated: "A true right wing has arrived, Futuro Nazionale has arrived."
Citizenship and the "third world"
According to the statute, belonging to the citizenry cannot be reduced to the mere formal respect for laws or the fulfillment of bureaucratic procedures.
In a released excerpt, the movement declares: "Citizenship is not granted simply by virtue of being born in Italy, and we are not willing to negotiate the inclusion of the Third World in our home."
The document also calls for "a firm defense of the roots of Italy and the Italian people, of the borders of the national territory, of the cohesion of values and culture as an indispensable element of belonging to citizenship, the latter of which cannot be reduced to mere formal respect for the laws, nor, much less, to the correct fulfillment of bureaucratic procedures."
Family and ethical issues
The statute establishes the "non-negotiable defense of the natural family formed by a man and a woman." The text also records opposition to abortion and euthanasia.
In article 2, the document mentions the “courageous fight against projects to create a new common sense built on gender ideology, woke ideology, cancel culture, immigrationism, and the denial of the virtues that made Italy great.”
According to supporters, the principles were formally registered before a notary. They claim that the goal is to consolidate values that, in the group's assessment, have been abandoned by sectors of the center-right.
The movement's constituent assembly is scheduled to take place before the European summer.
See below the fundamental values of the political movement:
Article 2 – Fundamental values of the association
The political movement Futuro Nazionale with Roberto Vannacci (FNV) recognizes the following values as its fundamental roots, transforming them into the content of its political action and promotion:
- The traditional Italian identity, rooted in Roman law, Greek thought, Roman heroism and chivalry, and the admirable synthesis of these achieved by Christian civilization;
- The culture, tradition, and history of our peoples, in which gestures, figures, and memorable events contributed to defining the identity of local communities, bell towers, regions, as well as the common belonging to the Italian Nation;
- The typically Italian mosaic of dense variety of differences, including local languages and dialects, as a "Homeland of small homelands," of specificities that are expressed in multiple and different ways, from territory to territory, that which over the centuries has made Italy great in the eyes of Europe and the world;
- Horizontal and vertical subsidiarity in relations between the State and territories;
- The non-negotiable defense of health, work, public housing, the armed forces, security forces, and the natural family formed by a man and a woman; the freedom of education and life from conception to natural death;
- the courageous fight against projects to create a new common sense built on gender ideology, woke ideology, cancel culture, immigrationism, and the denial of the virtues that made Italy great: courage, strength, duty, spirit of sacrifice, free initiative, determination, passion, and memory;
- A firm defense of the roots of Italy and the Italian people, of the borders of the national territory, of the cohesion of values and culture as an indispensable element of belonging to citizenship, the latter of which cannot be reduced to mere formal respect for the laws, nor, much less, to the correct fulfillment of bureaucratic procedures;
- Small and medium-sized property and small and medium-sized enterprises are a source of national pride and a remedy against the concentration of property typical of communist and unchecked capitalist systems.
- The environment as a national heritage to be preserved and a place of life, food sustenance thanks to agriculture, and knowledge entrusted to the care of man, who is its purpose and guardian.
