Elena Maraga, 29, was suspended from her position at a Catholic preschool in the province of Treviso, in northern Italy, after it was revealed that he maintains a profile on the adult content platform OnlyFans.

The educator, who has been working as a teacher since she was 24, was recognized by a student's mother, who shared the information in Facebook and WhatsApp groups with other parents at the institution.

Although some officials defended Maraga, claiming that her private life does not interfere with her professional activities, the school decided to suspend her. The justification was that the teacher's conduct did not match the religious nature of the institution.

In an interview with the newspaper The messenger, Elena explained that she has a degree in educational sciences, lives with her parents and has always dreamed of working with children. Also a bodybuilder, she said that she created the OnlyFans profile out of curiosity and as a way to supplement her income.

“I don’t hurt anyone and, in private, everyone can do what they want,” she said. The educator also stated that asking for people to see her body is a personal choice. Currently, in just a few days, she earns the equivalent of her monthly salary as a teacher, around 1,3 euros, approximately R$8.

With the repercussion of the case, Maraga's number of followers on Instagram went from 6 thousand to almost 18 thousand in just a few days.

The suspension could lead to dismissal, although the country's main trade union, the Italian General Confederation of Labour (Cgil), has spoken out against the measure. According to Alvise Sponza, a representative of the education sector in Treviso, "in the absence of a code of ethics drawn up by the school and signed by the interested party at the time of hiring, there are no objections to be made against the worker."
