On the 29th, 30th and 31st of August, the Immigration Museum of the State of São Paulo will host the event “FamilySearch Imigrantes — Celebrating Our Ancestors”. In partnership with the organization FamilySearch, the event seeks to honor the migrations and diasporas that shaped Brazil's identity.
With a program aimed at the whole family, participants will be able to attend lectures by genealogy experts. Practical activities will also be offered, such as the creation of free family trees, and the public will be able to experience exciting discoveries about their family history.
In addition to the lectures, the event will feature musical performances and a food court with typical foods from countries that influenced Brazilian cultural formation, such as Italy, Portugal and Japan.
During the event, the Immigration Museum, which was once the Brás Immigrant Hostel, will continue to have its permanent exhibitions and access to the research center, allowing an immersion in the stories of the people who contributed to the construction of today's Brazil.
“We at FamilySearch, together with the Immigration Museum, invite everyone to attend this great event that celebrates the family, our ancestors and roots. Our mission will be to help visitors learn a little more about their genealogy and family history in an exciting way,” he says. Adriano Almeida, national manager of FamilySearch.
“FamilySearch Imigrantes – Celebrating Our Ancestors” promises to be an enriching experience, connecting visitors to their origins and the stories that make up Brazil today.
