Maestro played on the Grand Canal aboard a silent boat: “Poetry and charm”
Venice in itself is already magnificent. But it can get even better. On Saturday, residents were treated to the pianist's performance Paolo Zanarella.
The maestro paraded through the Grand Canal – one of the most symbolic places in Veneza – playing a grand piano, aboard a silent boat.
Zanarella already made a similar presentation in 2019, but this time it was different: the city was empty.
“Venice must begin again with music,” said the artist. “Playing amidst its silence was a unique emotion. The poetry of the city is art, culture, music, and magic,” he added.
“Once again Venice hosts the performance of a great artist capable of exalting the poetry and charm of a city ready to begin again and emerge from its magical silence,” said resident Ermelinda Damiano.
This Monday (18), Venice was reopened, after the quarantine imposed across the country due to the covid-19 pandemic.
