The Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo held a Press conference to disclose the figures for its performance in 2024. The event, led by Consul General Domenico Fornara, highlighted challenges, growth in registrants and improvements to the scheduling system.

The Consul reported that the consular district has reached a size comparable to the city of Bologna, Italy. In 2024, the unit became the second largest in the world in issuing passports, with almost 40 thousand documents issued. In addition, there was a significant increase in the number of new registrants, totaling more than 83 thousand people in the last two years.

The Consul highlighted that, in the first two months of 2025 alone, there was a 7% increase in vacancies for issuing passports compared to 2024, which had already registered a record 5.801 documents issued.

According to Fornara, the press conference “is part of a set of actions aimed at transparency and efficiency in the services provided to the Italian community in São Paulo”.
