A 30th Week of the Italian Community of Campinas It begins this Thursday, April 9th, with a program that brings together culture, gastronomy, music, faith, and sporting activities. The event continues for 13 days in different locations throughout the city.
The opening will take place at Arautos da Paz Square. at Taquaral Lagoon, starting at 19 pm. The ceremony will be attended by authorities and the show “Special Adoniran Barbosa”, in homage to Italian immigrants.
The initiative is organized by Casa D'Italia Italian-Brazilian Culture, with support from the City of Campinas and participation from the Accademia Italiana Pellegrini.
According to the municipal secretary of Economic Development, Technology and Innovation, Adriana Flosi, the event has both cultural and economic impact. “The Italian Community Week values our culture, strengthens traditions, and also boosts the local economy. It's a program that stimulates commerce, attracts visitors, and generates opportunities for various sectors, in addition to providing moments of conviviality and integration for the population,” she stated.
Diverse programming
During the event, the public will be able to enjoy musical performances, cultural activities, themed meetings, and charitable initiatives.
One of the highlights will be the Open-Air Mass for World Peace, on April 12th at 10:00 AM, in Arautos da Paz Square. The celebration will be led by Bishop João Inácio Müller, with the participation of the Sant'Ana Choir. The public is invited to wear white.
After the mass, there will be the "Clothesline of Peace – Pace nel Mondo," an interactive installation with messages of hope.
The program also includes charitable activities, with food sales, a charity bingo game, and fundraising events organized by entities such as the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Italian opera in the spotlight
On April 16th, at 19:30 PM, the Cultural Center will host the show "Elixir and its Loves".
The presentation brings together excerpts from Italian operas with soloists Laura Duarte and Guilherme Hoff, accompanied by the Unicamp Symphony Orchestra and the Vocale Campinas Choir.
Entry will be free, with a donation of 1 kg of food for social causes.
Sports activities
The agenda also includes sporting activities, such as the 1st Casa D'Italia Chess Tournament, the Giro de Campinas, and the traditional Tiradentes Cycling Race.
