Italian villages are increasingly attracting tourists around the world, reaching 62 million online searches in 2023.
At the top of virtual searches is Tropea, in Calabria, followed by Alberobello, in Puglia, and Civita di Bagnoregio, in Lazio.
The survey conducted by Telepass shows that Tropea, the most sought-after destination by travelers, received 148,3 thousand monthly searches. The Calabrian city enchants with its scenic and historical beauty, as well as its beaches with white sand and blue sea.
Alberobello had 129 searches per month. The village is famous for its trulli, ancient stone buildings with conical roofs, typical of Puglia, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to their history.
Finally, Civita di Bagnoregio, “the dying city”, has 112.900 monthly searches. Located on top of a hill, the town is slowly disappearing due to erosion. Even so, its evocative landscape and ancient history arouse the interest of tourists.
According to Telepass, interest in Italian villages has grown steadily over the past four years, reaching nearly 210 million online searches. (HANDLE)
