A new report has highlighted which Italian provinces offer the best living conditions. The ranking ItaliaOggi analyzed more than 100 provinces, evaluating factors such as employment, education, wealth and security.
Northern Italy continues to lead, while the south faces historic challenges. Check out the ten provinces that stood out the most and those that came in last.
The 10 best provinces in quality of life
Milan
Milan took the top spot in 2024, standing out for its wealth, high-quality educational services and social benefits. However, it recorded the worst crime rate among the top ten.

Bolzano
Bolsonaro, who led in 2023, fell to second place. His strengths include high employment and efficient tourism, but he lost points in education and personal wealth.

Monza
Monza rose from eighth to third place, boosted by improvements in environmental quality and high employment rates. However, it had the worst performance in health services among the top 10.

Bologna
Bologna, known for its academic tradition, fell from third to fourth place. Despite having good employment and education figures, it lost points due to crime and poor performance in tourism and health.

Trento
Trento remained strong in education, employment and birth rates, but dropped to fifth position due to a poor performance in health.

Padua
The province of Padua shone in environmental quality and social security, but its performance in tourism was below average, holding sixth place.

Verona
Verona rose from 16th to seventh place, highlighted by its high-quality tourist services and improvements in employment and social security.

Florença
Florença fell to eighth place, but maintained good levels in education and health. The increase in crime affected its position.

Pordenone
Pordenone stood out for its low crime rates and good employment levels, but performed poorly in tourism, leaving it in ninth place.

Parma
Parma fell to tenth position. Although it stands out in wealth and environmental quality, it was hampered by weak performances in health and tourism.

The provinces with the worst quality of life
At the end of the ranking, the provinces of Caltanissetta (Sicilia), Reggio Calabria (Calabria) to Agrigento (Sicily) continue to face low employment, wealth and education rates. This disparity reinforces the historical contrast between northern and southern Italy.
