Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli adopted two dogs in recent days: one from Ukraine, deaf and with broken bones due to bombings in the country, and one found injured in a hole in Egypt.
The Ukrainian dog, named “Jack,” was located in Kupyansk by Kiev volunteers in the days following the reconquest of the city by Volodymyr Zelensky's government forces.
Transported to the capital of Ucrania, a group of veterinarians tried to save “Jack” by extracting fragments of shrapnel from his back. Soon after, the search for a home for the animal began.
The vice president of the city council of Kiev, Oles Malyarevich even made an appeal, answered by Bocelli. Upon learning of the episode, the tenor decided to take measures to save the puppy and take him to Italy.
In a post on social media, Malyarevich shared videos of the first meeting between Bocelli and “Jack”, in which the Italian appears bent over stroking the puppy and whispering: “Piccolo. Are you well".
“Miracles happen even in the darkest moments. Thank you to the Bocelli family for your big heart and kindness. We wish Jack a happy new life,” he wrote.
In addition to “Jack”, Bocelli rescued a puppy during a trip to Egypt with his wife Veronica. The couple found the injured animal in a hole in the street and, after care, was named Jolie, “bringer of joy”, by their daughter.
Last year, the singer lost his dog Pallina after she fell into the Sardinian sea during a boat trip. At the time there was a local mobilization to try to locate the animal, but no clues were found.
Two days later, Bocelli announced that the searches had been terminated. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Tempio Pausania, in southern Italy, opened an investigation into the dog's death. (Handle)
