Warning: your anxiety may be delaying your citizenship process in Venice.
Last Wednesday (25), the court prohibited applicants for Italian citizenship from contacting the chancery or the secretariat directly to inquire about their applications. From now on, the body will only respond to requests submitted by lawyers through the telematic system.
The decision is contained in a service order signed by the president of the court. Andrea FidanziaThe document justifies the measure by citing the "mass of instances" (high volume of orders) submitted daily by the parties, which has generated an excessive waste of time and hampered the progress of the judgments.
The official text highlights the "impossibility for chancery staff to handle both processing activities and the various instances presented in person." With the number of employees unchanged, the court decided to prioritize internal work to reduce the backlog of cases.
Applicants are "invited not to address requests directly to the chancery," especially for copies or information about the status of the procedure. According to the order, these are activities that lawyers can carry out independently through the Telematic Services Portal (PST).
The court presidency emphasizes that the chancery "will respond exclusively to requests and correspondence sent by the parties' attorneys," that is, the lawyers. This measure aims to prevent an excess of individual inquiries from delaying the achievement of the goals of the extraordinary citizenship plan.
The rule came into effect immediately. Tribunal It warns that the accumulation of information requests made directly by interested parties ends up hindering the speed of the very judgments they are awaiting.
