Tragedy that left 38 dead in Italy postpones two games of the first round of the Italian Championship

From Genoa, Genoa and Sampdoria requested the postponement of their games.

The tragedy that killed 38 people and left 15 hospitalized in Genoa, Italy, resulted in the postponement of two games in the opening round of the Italian Championship, which takes place this weekend.

Genoa and Sampdoria, who are from the city of Genoa, asked for their games not to take place. Thus, the Italian league accepted, postponing the clashes between Sampdoria x Fiorentina and Milan x Genoa, which were scheduled for this Sunday.

In a statement, the league said it had received the requests and received a positive response when consulting Milan and Fiorentina about the possibility of postponement. The new dates for the clashes have not yet been defined, but there is a promise of an announcement on the topic in the coming days.

On the morning of last Tuesday, the 14th, the Morandi bridge, where the A10 highway passes, which connects northern Italy to southern France and crosses an area with a large concentration of people, partially collapsed. Search teams are still working at the scene — 10 people are still missing.
