The Senate approved this Wednesday (19/02/2025) the project with the agreement to allow the Brazilian CNH (National Driver's License) to be used in Italy.
With this, Brazilian drivers will be able to use the documents on Italian soil. The bilateral agreement will now be enacted.
Signed in July 2024 during the visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella, the agreement provides for the direct conversion of the Brazilian National Driver's License (CNH) into an Italian license, and vice versa, without the need to take theoretical or practical exams.
The agreement allows Brazilian drivers who have resided in Italy for less than six years to convert their driving licenses to categories A and B directly in Vehicle registration, the body responsible for local traffic. Italians in Brazil will be able to carry out the same procedure based on the rules established by detran in each state.
The rules come into effect as soon as they are published.
