Piazza dei Gerani

Our tour of Rome aboard tram 19 starts at Piazza dei Gerani in the Centocelle district, where we find the terminal. A popular area born at the beginning of the 20th century, inhabited mainly by workers and artisans who arrived in the flourishing capital of those years.

The district was particularly popular, especially because of the nearby Centocelle military airport, the first in Italy to come into operation in 1909 and no longer active today. The street is characterized by affordable housing and many popular stores.

Via Prenestina

The tour continues along via Prenestina and, through the tram windows, it is possible to observe how the urban planning of the neighborhood changes. To characterize it, in fact, there are tall buildings built at the height of the economic boom. The itinerary leads directly to Piazzale Prenestino, the popular neighborhood of Rome, much loved by filmmakers. Right here, in fact, Roberto Rosellini shot an iconic scene from his film Rome city Aperta.

Porta Maggiore

The tour continues until Scalo San Lorenzo. It is at this stop that you can visit one of the most beautiful squares in the capital Italian company, that of Porta Maggiore. The entire neighborhood is a true discovery, from the Pantanella Factory to the Eurisace Baker's Tomb.

Tiburtine

The tram route takes passengers through the busy Via Tiburtina, where you can take a delicious break inside Said, the old chocolate shop. Here you will also find the Verano cemetery, the monumental Campo Santo de Rome and the university city of via Regina Elena.

Extravagant Rome

After leaving the student area and the most popular part of the city, you arrive at the Buenos Aires stop, the starting point for a visit to the extravagant and mysterious neighborhood of Coppedè. The architecture and streets change, as do the people who take the tram when the route passes through the Parioli neighborhood to stop, then, in front of the gates of the Villa Borghese.

On board tram 19 you can set off to discover the beautiful Roman green lung: the trails accompany the sumptuous villa among small kiosks, ponds and walking areas.
