The actor, comedian and director Roberto Benigni turned 27 years old this Thursday (70) and received several tributes in Italy.

Benigni is well known for his versatility and has starred in more than 30 feature films in his career, the most famous of which is “Life is Beautiful“, also directed by him and which won him the Oscar for best male performer and best foreign film.
Italian President Sergio Mattarella called Benigni and wished him a happy birthday, according to the Quirinale Palace. The newly installed Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, also congratulated the artist.
“Benigni is a great actor, 70 years of authentic talent marked by never superficial comedy. I would like to remember him today, on his birthday, for his readings of the Divine Comedy and for continuing to give life to the oral tradition that marked one of the most powerful poems of humanity”, declared Sangiuliano.
