The public hearing scheduled for March 11th, 2026The hearing, at 9:30 AM, at the Constitutional Court, will have 26 lawyers authorized to participate in the process.

The number is listed in “Ruolo delle cause” (trial agenda, in free translation) from the session, released this Wednesday (25).

The case concerns provisions of Decree-Law No. 36/2025 related to Italian citizenship by descent. The action originates from a decision by the Turin Court, which questions the constitutionality of the Tajani Decree.

Defense, State and associations

Of the total of 26 lawyers, the majority act in the defense of the plaintiffs and individual intervening parties.

The State is represented by two public attorneys.

Also participating are lawyers representing associations admitted as intervenors ad adiuvandum, with the aim of providing legal support to the thesis defended by the authors.

Other entities within the Italian community abroad are involved in the process through their legal representatives.

The high number of lawyers highlights the breadth of the legal discussion surrounding the new regulations on Italian citizenship.
