The Lega representative in Brazil and former Italian deputy Luis Roberto Lorenzato sent a letter to the Brazilian Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski, requesting clarification and an immediate review of the recent changes to the system for issuing the Negative Naturalization Certificate (CNN) — an essential document for processes of recognition of Italian citizenship by descent.

The changes have been implemented on the platform Naturalization Date, the system responsible for issuing certificates in Brazil. The main problems identified include:

Lorenzato requested that the Ministry of Justice restore CNN's previous format, reactivate the old system, and open a dialogue with the Italian-Brazilian community, one of the largest in the world.
“Citizenship is a right — and it cannot be hindered by administrative failures,” he said on his Instagram profile.
