The Italian city of Rimini, birthplace of Federico Fellini, began work on projects to create a “great museum” dedicated to the director in the historic center of the municipality.
“Rimini already has numerous signs of Fellini, his presence and his art, but they never managed to transform into a system and, above all, into opportunities for a new investment approach for the city”, declared Mayor Andrea Gnassi.
The recovery of the Italian master's identity will involve the creation of green areas, arenas for open-air shows and urban itineraries that promise to generate a new vision of one of the most significant areas of Rimini.
One of the highlights of the museum will be CircAmarcord, with its typical circus characters, playful and interactive, and which in the future foresees the installation of elements linked to Fellini's cinematographic imagination.

The space will be set up on a plot of land in Piazza Malatesta used for many years as a parking lot, in the same place where the director himself, as a child, discovered the circus. In the old Fulgor room, there will be the “Casa do Cinema”, where it will be possible to experience the filmmaker's creations in augmented reality, with 1930s-style decoration designed by art director Dante Ferretti.
Fellini was born in Rimini on January 20, 1920, and attended the classical high school in the city, where he began drawing, which eventually became his first profession. But it was only from 1939 onwards, when he moved to Rome, that his personality began to emerge, and he took the first steps towards becoming one of the greatest figures in Italian culture in the 20th century.
