Google has agreed to pay 326 million euros to the Italian tax authorities to settle a tax dispute, the Milan prosecutor's office announced last Wednesday (19).
The Italian courts had opened an investigation against Google Ireland Limited for tax evasion, given that the platform had a debt of taxes, sanctions, penalties and interest relating to the period between 2015 and 2019.
In a statement, Milan's chief prosecutor, Marcello Viola, said that following the agreement between the parties and the payment made by Google, a preliminary investigation judge (GIP) was asked to close the case.
The investigation carried out by Milan's tax police and financial watchdogs found that the company had failed to register or pay taxes on revenues generated in Italy.
In 2017, Google had already reached an agreement to pay 306 million euros in taxes after Milan's financial police conducted investigations related to the period 2009-2013. (HANDLE)
