The 17th edition of the Italian Festival of new venice It starts this Thursday (1st) with a show by singer Sérgio Reis, in Nova Veneza, in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia. The festival is a tradition in the city and will feature musical and cultural performances, dance, a masked ball and Italian food until Sunday (4).

A new feature this year is the expansion of places to purchase tokens. To purchase dishes and drinks, the visitor makes payment and receives tokens that give access to food at the festival.

Now, visitors can buy any dish or drink offered in the three food outlets, wine cellar, bar and canteen. According to the organization, the measure is to avoid queues and make it faster for visitors to enjoy the festival's delights.

With the theme “An Italy in New Venice”, the festival should serve more than 20 thousand dishes which began to be prepared by the official restaurant since the beginning of May. There are around 15 cooks preparing the meat, seasoning the meatballs and making the handmade pasta to assemble the lasagnas.

The municipality of Nova Veneza is 30 km from Goiânia. According to the organization, the city has more than 9 thousand inhabitants and is the largest representation of Italian immigration from the Midwest. Around 60% of its residents are descendants of Italians, who migrated to the region more than 100 years ago.
