The wait is over.

After the clues released on social media in recent weeks, the lead singer of the Italian rock band ManeskinDamian David, released in the early hours of this Friday (27) the first single of his solo career, “Silverlines”.

And those who expected something along the lines of the explosive trajectory of one of the most successful groups of recent times may have been surprised. The changes already begin in the look, with the replacement of transgressive and gender-fluid clothes for a sober suit, but they don't stop there.

Sung in English, as is customary in Maneskin's career, “Silverlines” begins with a crackling radio broadcast, which then gives way to Damiano's powerful and engaging voice, accompanied only by a piano, with a strong emotional impact, but without the characteristic raspy tone.

The track is the result of a collaboration with British singer, songwriter and producer Labrinth, who also oversaw the production.

The lines “I feel sorrow no more, the calm after the storm, and peace belongs to me”, which open the song, seem to claim the maturity and awareness of a grown man, and no longer of a boy.

The excerpt “Look at those light rays, no dark days anymore” evokes images and sensations that refer to a dreamlike and cinematic world, an idea supported by the official music video, directed by the duo Nono + Rodrigo.

“Silverlines” is the calling card of a larger project that the 25-year-old artist is working on, a new path that Damiano has already reiterated does not represent a farewell to Maneskin, despite the rumors of recent weeks, strengthened by the musician's decision to delete references to the band from his Instagram biography.

“Where do you want to go?” asks the artist at the end of the music video. “Everywhere,” the star replies. (HANDLE)
