Tiramisù World Cup brings together dessert from everyone

Tiramisù Treviso
Tiramisù World Cup: 200 desserts from around the world

100 tasters will evaluate 200 tiramisù over two days. Event takes place at the end of October in Treviso

The tastiest competition of the year is approaching. There will be three days dedicated to the king of sweets: tiramisù.

The fourth edition of Tiramisù World Cup (Tiramisu World Cup) takes place from October 30th to November 1st, in Treviso.

This year, it was necessary to resize the event to just 200 places, following new safety standards, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A popular jury with 100 tasters and a team of experts will decide the best tiramisù in the world.

The theme of this edition will be “Treviso, city of sport".

In addition to Italy, competitors from the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Croatia, among other countries, are registered.

The mission, according to the organizers, is to prepare an impeccable Tiramisù in the traditional way with classic ingredients: savoiardi/pavesini biscuits, mascarpone, coffee, eggs, cocoa and sugar; or give free rein to your imagination and create a creative Tiramisù.

The evaluation criteria, finally, will consider the execution, the balance of the assembly, the appearance, the flavor, the harmony and the intensity of the taste in each Tiramisú.

It will be possible to follow all stages of the Tiramisù World Cup, in Treviso, via the event’s official website: tiramisuworldcup.com.

The sweet

Considered one of the most famous Italian sweets in the world, Tiramisù has gained more and more fans all over the world.

The name of the dessert comes from the Italian expression “Tirami Sù”, which means something like “pull me up” or “lift me up”.

Many regions of Italy consider themselves creators of the sweet, including Piedmont, Lombardia e Toscana. But, initially it comes from the region of Veneto, specifically from Treviso.

Ingredients
6 egg yolks
250 grams of sugar
500 grams of mascarpone
250 milliliters of espresso or very strong bitter brewed coffee
30 champagne cookies
Cocoa powder for sprinkling

Way of preparing
Prepare the coffee, let it cool and set aside. Beat the egg yolks with the help of a mixer, adding the sugar in the form of rain until you get a dense foam.

Turn off the mixer. Using a spatula, add the mascarpone, beating gently until you get a smooth and uniform cream.

Soak the cookies one by one in coffee at room temperature, but without soaking them.

Place a layer of fifteen cookies on a round platter (yes, the original tiramisu is round) and cover with the cream.

Arrange the rest of the cookies and cover again with the cream to finish.

Then place it in the refrigerator and leave it for at least an hour.

When serving, sprinkle with dark chocolate.
