Brazilians who need validate documents to live or study abroad, or even to obtain dual citizenship, they may request certificates, school diplomas and national public documents validated for use in any of the 120 countries signatories of the Hague Apostille Convention online.
Despite the innovation and ease, Italian-Brazilians cannot use the Electronic Apostille in Italy, which still does not recognize this type of document.
The Electronic Apostille system was launched in a ceremony at the National Council of Justice (CNJ), in Brasilia, on Friday (3).
With the launch of Electronic Apostille, the citizen who sends a document to be certified at any notary's office in Brazil may also request its receipt online, by email or cell phone, which will include a QR Code for authenticity verification to be carried out by the foreign authority.
“The possibility of apostille documents electronically for use abroad is yet another achievement that shows the progress of almost 100% in carrying out Notary Office acts also in the digital environment. With this approval from the National Council of Justice, we had the opportunity to work so that users can have their documents in the palm of their hand for use abroad”, comments the president of the Colégio Notarial do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro Section, Renato Vilarnovo .
The apostille, carried out in notary offices across the country, is used to authenticate and allow mutual recognition of Brazilian documents in 120 other countries. Among the most common documents to be apostilled are birth, marriage and death certificates, divorce, inventory, purchase and sale and stable union deeds, powers of attorney, wills, diplomas, transcripts and school certificates.
According to data from CNJ, Brazil recorded a 47% increase in validations of documents in the months of June to December compared to the same period in 2020 (98.767 x 145.396).
