The Brazilian Jessica Stapazzolo Custodio de Lima, 33 years old, stabbed to death by her ex-partner in northern Italy, will be honored this Thursday (30) in Castelnuovo del Garda, in the province of Verona.

The ceremony will take place in front of the city hall, as informed by the municipal administration, headed by the mayor. Davide Sandrini, who invited the public to participate in the public tribute.
Local authorities also corrected the victim's name, which was initially released incorrectly. Jéssica was killed between Sunday (26) and Monday (27) in her apartment, on the banks of the Garda lake.
The ex-partner, Douglas Reis Pedroso, 41, confessed to the crime and is being held in the Montorio di Verona penitentiary. His defense is being handled by lawyer Adrian Hila, from the Verona Bar Association.

According to prosecutor Raffaele Tito, the victim was stabbed multiple times. The Verona Prosecutor's Office will appoint a forensic pathologist to perform the autopsy, which should clarify the exact time of death and the circumstances of the murder.
Pedroso was already known to Italian authorities and had a criminal record for mistreatment and bodily harm against Jessica, committed between August 2024 and April 2025. He also had a history of alcohol and drug addiction.

During a preliminary investigation in April of this year, he was arrested for assault. On that occasion, he threw Jessica to the ground, dragged her by the hair, and injured her with a car key.
Even under electronic monitoring, the device did not function correctly at the time of the crime, according to initial investigations.
