There is a place in northern Italy where everything tastes like apples: welcome to Lana.
Located in the Merano basin, the largest fruit-growing city in the world South Tyrol it is also a paradise for outdoor activities.
The beautiful historic center of the village, located in the middle of orchards, predates its fame and, every year, receives visitors from all over the world.
They arrive attracted by events such as the “pumpkin journey”, “flowering festival” and the famous “Christmas markets” (Christmas markets, in free translation).

But Lana is really famous for being the land of apples: almost 70 thousand tons are harvested every year on around 500 farms in the region.
All thanks to the geographical conditions and the Alpine-Mediterranean climate.
It is in Lana's apple orchards that the most famous and precious apple varieties are grown, such as Maschanzker, Köstliche, Goldparmäne and Ledererer, which are the oldest, and Golden and Red Delicious which are, instead, the most consumed.
E At apple time, everything changes, as if by magic.
The flowering of apple trees, in fact, appears like a pinkish-white sea that emanates a delicious aroma – they say it works as an aphrodisiac.
It is precisely during this period – in April – that the event is organized Lana in Fiore, to raise awareness throughout the world about the strength of the territory's apple orchards, through creative workshops, conferences and cooking courses.

The precious art of fruit growing that has belonged to Lana for generations is told in the Museum of the same name located in Lana di Sotto, exactly inside the medieval residence Larchgut.
An exhibition area of 1000 square meters tells the story of this ancient fruit, its evolution and production.
But not only that, an important accent is placed on the symbolism of the fruit itself with a path that leads the visitor to discover the apple of paradise, the apple of discord, the apple of Aphrodite, the apple of Steve Jobs, the apple of medicine and elixir of beauty, in cooking and painting.
